How to Plan a Custom Wellness Getaway Near Asheville

The sauna at Firelight sits a few steps from Shope Creek. You get access to 50 minutes of heat, then cold-moving water, plus a robe and a thermos of tea on the deck. Nobody has to plan that part. It comes with the stay.
A wellness getaway near Asheville can be that simple, or you can build out the rest around it. Add a private yoga class, a sound bath, a guided foraging walk on our own trails, or a massage in your cabin. The practitioners come to you, so the whole stay can happen on 22 wooded acres, 20 minutes from downtown.
Here is how to put one together: what every stay includes, what to book ahead, and why Tuesday through Thursday is the time to do it.
What Every Stay at Firelight Includes
Before you book anything extra, here’s a glimpse at what is already here. A good half of this getaway is built in.
A private hot tub on your deck. Every cabin has its own, and it is never shared. Save it for after dark, once the air cools and the stars come up over the ridge.
A fire inside. Seven of the cabins have wood-burning stoves. The Hilltop Cabin has a fireplace.
Trails from your door. The on-site hiking trails start at the end of the driveway and run up along the ridgeline. Walk them before breakfast, or at dusk when the birds go quiet.
The gardens and the coop. Raised beds hold herbs and vegetables you are welcome to harvest, and fresh eggs from the chickens and ducks are waiting when you arrive. There is a seating area in the garden, and if you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet a rooster named Brownie who is especially fond of humans.
Creekside seating and a community fire pit. The firewood is on us. The creek is just loud enough to hear from the lounge chairs but quiet enough to talk over.
The pavilion. Covered, with a fireplace, outdoor living room and a long dining area, it’s a good place to end the day with a drink.
Nature immersion takes time outside, in one place, long enough to notice what is there. The dahlia beds in late summer, the wildflower meadow, the ducks you hear before you see them. Twenty-two acres gives you room for that without getting in the car.
The Sauna and the Creek Cold Plunge
This is the center of most wellness stays here, so it gets its own section.
The guest sauna is an electric barrel sauna on its own deck, and it is reserved for Firelight guests. Sessions run 50 minutes, start on the hour, and are complimentary. Robes and towels are provided, along with hot herbal tea and water.
Shope Creek is the cold plunge. It’s just a few steps from the sauna platform, and it is moving water, cool in summer and properly cold the rest of the year. Most people settle into a few rounds: heat, creek, deck, and back again.
Each stay includes at least one sauna session. If the schedule has room, you can book another. Reserve your time slot on our website before you arrive.

Wellness Add-Ons You Can Book for Your Stay
With the included half settled, add what fits to create the perfect Asheville wellness getaway. Each of these can happen on the property, so a full day of it never involves a parking lot.
Guided Foraging Walk with Foraging Home
Bek Jopling has taught wild food, ecology, and plant identification in Southern Appalachia for nearly twenty years. Through Foraging Home, she leads private walks on Firelight's own trails, pointing out what is edible, what is medicinal, and what to leave alone. What you find depends on the season. Either way, you will walk the same trails differently afterward.
Book directly with Foraging Home and mention that you are staying at Firelight.
Private Yoga with Asheville Wellness Tours
We partner with Asheville Wellness Tours for on-site yoga, and Firelight guests get a special rate with the code FIRELIGHT. They bring a private class to you, built around your experience level and how much time you have. On a mild morning the pavilion works well. In colder months, there is room in your cabin to roll out a mat by the fire.
Sound Bath with Asheville Wellness Tours
A sound bath is an hour or so lying down while a practitioner plays singing bowls, gongs, and other instruments. Sessions usually run 45 to 90 minutes. Schedule one for early evening, and the hot tub is right there when it ends.
In-Cabin Massage
We partner with Willoway Massage Therapy for massage in your cabin. Book it for the evening after your sauna session, and you have nowhere to be afterward. Call or email William directly to schedule, at 828-712-8204.

Walk the trails before dark.
Light the fire, cook dinner, and end the night in the hot tub.
Wednesday
Private yoga in the morning, at the pavilion or in the cabin.

Foraging walk with Bek, late morning.
Lunch from the garden beds.
Sauna and creek plunge in the afternoon.
In-cabin massage at dusk.
Thursday
Sound bath after breakfast.
Coffee by the creek before checkout.
A third night lets you keep one whole day empty. That is worth planning for too.
Why a Midweek Wellness Getaway Costs Less
Midweek rates at Firelight are always lower than weekend rates. For a stay built around rest, that is the first reason to come Tuesday or Wednesday, and there are a few more.
Lower nightly rates. Book direct for the best midweek price, and watch our Instagram and newsletter for special offers.
The savings can fund an add-on. The gap between a weekend night and a midweek night can go toward a foraging walk or a massage.
Use the partner code. Code FIRELIGHT gets you our special rate on yoga and other offerings through Asheville Wellness Tours.
The included half costs nothing extra. The sauna, trails, gardens, eggs, firewood, and hot tub come with every stay. A budget-minded version of this getaway can skip the add-ons entirely and still fill two days.
More room on the schedule. Sauna slots and practitioner calendars tend to be more open midweek, which makes it easier to get the times you want.
A quieter Asheville. If you drive into town, midweek means easier restaurant tables and fewer cars at the Parkway pull-offs.
The tradeoff. On Saturday mornings we set out scones, mimosas, coffee, and tea at the pavilion. If you want both, arrive Wednesday and leave Saturday morning. Two midweek nights, one weekend night, and the scones.
